Windstar's ships are officially motor-sailing-yachts (msy). In 1988, Windstar Cruises launched the first commercial sailing vessel built in over 60 years - the 148-guest msy Wind Star and msy Wind Spirit. In 1998, the larger 308 guest msy Wind Surf joined the fleet.
